fat-boyEd was down at Mt Pisa today scoping out the course for 23 May.  “This course is going to be awesome with heaps of interesting geographical features as well  as historical features from the early gold mining days”.

We are going to have a family section this year.  This means either mum and/or dad with their under 18 year old sibblings.

We will be plotting the course in the next week or so.  Keep an eye on the website for some photos.

Here are the rules for participants of the Shoe Clinic Southern Lakes Half Marathon and 10k.

  • Yes we will have lots of road signage asking cars to slow down and watch-out for you but ultimately, you are responsible for your own safety.
  • You must attend the race briefing and follow course instructions
  • There are NO ROAD CLOSURES- watch out for traffic at all times!
  • You must stay on the right hand verge of the road at all times except when crossing at intersections
  • When crossing at intersections please look out for cars and follow the directions of the marshal.
  • No personal music players are to be worn! listen out for on coming traffic and stay alert.
  • You are not allowed to receive any assistance from supporters vehicles! Tell your supporters they are welcome to yell out encouragement as they drive passed but they must not slow down to a speed where they could hold up traffic or impede other runners.
  • Be aware of uneven ground- there may be areas where the verge is quite uneven.
  • Run at a pace appropriate to your own level of experience.
  • You must ensure your race number is clearly visible from the front
  • If you pull out of the race for any reason you must let a marshal know.
  • The race organisers have the right to change the courses or cancel the event for safety purposes. In either case no refunds will be made.
  • If you find a runner in distress please help make comfortable and ask another runner to proceed on to notify the next race official.
  • Cell phone coverage is good over much of the course- in case of minor emergencies call Ed on 0274451091 in case of major emergencies call 111.
  • Dress accordingly, think about the potential for cool weather to arrive quickly.

Oh, yes- and you are allowed to have fun.
