23th Jan 2010, is a mountain bike event with a focus on participation. Starting at the Snow Farm on Mt Pisa there is a great undulating ride along the top of the mountain towards Wanaka before a long down hill all the way back to Albert Town Tavern. We are very fortunate to have the permission of multiple land owners  so please, no riding over the course outside the event- this is a once a year opportunity. 40km approx, cross country course over farm/mountain 4WD tracks.09 dakar xc

Entry fee’s- Adult $75, Junior (under 19) $50, Family $150 Price includes race pack goodies and post event meal, spot prizes for the lucky- no merit prizes as this is just a ‘Fun Ride’.

Ride Start 10.15 am at the Snow Farm.

Registration from 11am -8pm on Friday 22nd at the Albert Town Tavern.  (there will also be a late registration table at the start line for you guys traveling over on the day- but if you’re staying in or close to Wanaka please register on Friday, ta.)

Bus pick-up (must be pre-booked with registration, $10 extra) LEAVING Albert Town Tavern 7.30 am and Pembroke Park 7.45am There will be a truck to take your bikes up give yourself time to load your bike before hopping on the bus!

Pre Event Pasta Party – Albert Town Tavern from 6pm meet up with your friends and Carbo-load for only $12.  Just arrive and pay no booking required.

Post Event meal when you arrive and prize giving at 2pm.

Bus back up to the Snow Farm to collect your car leaves from Albert Town Tavern at 2.30pm (Must be pre booked with registration $5 extra)

Compulsory- at registration you need to show us a recent (2011) reciept as proof of a safety check for your bike. Thunder Bikes on the cnr of Brownston and Helwick st’s Wanaka will do you a free one.

Also compulsory gear – this will be checked if the weather looks at all changeable:

Basic repair kit including a spare tube, two top layers plus a good quality water proof jacket, warm hat/hood you can fit under your helmet and gloves.

The ALBERT TOWN TAVERN Big ‘NOT so EASY’,

for the more hardened mountain bike riders, will head east soon after the start and do a 20km loop going over the top of Mt Pisa at 1900m before joining back in with the Big Easy and the beautiful down-hill all the way home. 60km approx, cross country course over farm/mountain 4WD tracks.

This is a 'stock' photo but our race will look very similar.

Entry fee’s- $95 includes race pack goodies plus post event meal and drink…($20 per entry goes toward a cash prize pool. First place gets half the cash on offer for their category, 2nd get’s half of what’s left and we keep on going until there is less than $100 to give out. E.G. if there are 100 entrants in the 30-39yrs category there will be $2000 in the prize pool for that category so first place gets $1000, second gets $500, 3rd $250, 4th $125 and 5th and 6th will get $75 each.) Spot prizes too.
