Terms and Conditions for Southern Lakes Half Marathon and 10km

All competitors must have read and understand Highland Events event waiver for this event before agreeing to the waiver.

All competitors must have read and understand the race rules and that they will abide by these rules while involved with this event in any way.

Entry Fees  - entry fees are refundable up until 2nd April 2021 . Less 20% admin fee. After this date there are no refunds or transfers.

Entries are non-transferable.

In the event of the Southern Lakes Half Marathon and 10km being cancelled for any reason, participants will be able to hold their entry over to a following year or receive an 80% refund.

To enter the Southern Lakes Marathon competitors must be over the age of 18 years on the day of the event and over the age of 12 years on the day of the event to enter the 10km race.

Entrants must be capable of completing the full distance, start line to finish line, within event time requirements, after which time all intersections will be un-manned and drink stations will be dismantled and Highland Events will take no responsibility for the safety of competitors. The event time requirement and age minimum apply to both forms of entry, i.e. online or paper entry form. It is strongly recommended that you train for the run and prepare for the challenge.  It is the responsibility of all participants to ensure they are medically fit to participate in the event.

By taking part, all participants confirm that they are happy for their names and any video footage or photographs taken during their participation in events to be used to publicise any Highland Events events. In addition, by entering a Highland Events event and by supplying an email address, you agree that mailings may be sent by official event charities and sponsors or the purposes of fundraising or marketing. Your email data will only be used by recognised parties working within the framework of an event and will not be sold or transferred to any third party not working within the framework of an event under any circumstances.

Highland Events reserve the right to change the course, or make any other amendment to the Event that we deem necessary to stage the Event for reasons of safety, security or requests made by the Local Authority, Police or any Emergency Service. Any change to the Event will be communicated to you at the Event or sooner if practicable.

Race Rules

  1. Event Briefing- all runners must attend the pre race briefing at approximately 15mins prior to the start of their event.

  2. Competitors must run as close as possible to the verge at all times. Runners not complying to this rule will be taken off the course at the discretion of the race referee or any event staff.

  3. Minimum age- all half marathon competitors must be 18 years old on race day, unless written permission from race director and consent from parent or guardian. 10k competitors must be over 12 years of age on race day.

  4. In the event of a competitor withdrawing from their event they must report to the finish line official.

  5. Runners passing - when passing, pass to your left remaining as close as possible to the right hand verge of the road and resume to running as close as possible to the right hand road verge. Always pass with safety in mind.

  6. We strongly recommend that devices that impair normal hearing not be worn. This is due to event being held on the road. It is very important that competitors are aware of their surroundings.
